The Girl is a Mathematician

The girl is a cuddler, she likes to be half asleep and dig her feet under my thighs. I like the weekend routine.

This morning, was different, she bolted upright and announced "Zero is an odd number. No matter how many you have, even a hundred zero's, you still have nothing. No, wait, zero is an even number, if you have zero, I have zero, and A has zero, we still have nothing. If you don't have anything you still have zero."

Bleary eyed and confused, all I could do was listen to her rattle off her thoughts quickly like a machine gun.

Once she was satisfied with her monologue, she dug her toes under me and began to cuddle.

The weekend has begun.

Wait til she misunderstands her teacher.

My daughter, who just started second grade, swears that she heard her teacher say that "w" is a vowel.

She will not accept any argument against it, because she heard her teacher say it. We even Googled it for her. No dice.

My conundrum is this: What if her teacher actually DID say that? Horrifying is the thought.

Feel lucky your daughter stopped her own conversation...my daughter just keeps on goin'.

Actually, W is considered a vowel sometimes depending on how its used in the word, such has the words HOW and VOW. same thing with Y. AEIOU and sometimes W and Y is how I learned it in school and so did my 22 year old ds.

Lol, I've only learned a-e-i-o-u-and sometimes-Y as being vowels.

Dear moooooog35, I'm also glad she doesn't have a pencil fetish.

Anon~I was REALLY curious about the W thing and searched online and it seems pretty divided - W is or isn't a vowel. Anyway thanks for the comment, because if you didn't comment, I would have never known there was a controversy!
